Few things which you should know about packaged or bottled drinking water

Over the past ten years there has been a spree in the sale of packaged drinking water which is also known as bottled water. There was a time when no one could imagine water as a saleable commodity. But in today’s world various companies are selling millions and millions of bottles of packaged drinking water.

Now you might be thinking what led to this boom in the packaged drinking water industry. The single most important reason was the contamination of drinking water fetched from tap and well. Of course there were other factors like convenience and portability which were also considered by the customers. In India there are several packaged drinking water plants. In Kolkata itself, Doctor Water which is a leading water treatment plant manufacturer has installed such plants. Let us consider drinking water in Kolkata

Recent studies have revealed that there is a high level of pesticides and other toxic chemicals in the city’s drinking water. Are you aware of the fact that a high amount of packaged water comes right from the tap? In this way packaged water is very much susceptible to contamination. In fact, sometimes packaged drinking water can be less safe that tap water. This fact needs to be given due consideration by concerns like Doctor Water which installed packaged drinkingwater plants in Kolkata and other places like Assam, Odisha and Bihar. Actually the seriousness of the situation is because of the absence of stringent regulations on bottled water in our country. The regulations are less strict on packaged water than on tap or well water. This leads to an increase in the overall risks.
Although a lot of people use bottled water packaged in packaged drinking water plants in Kolkata and other cities, you should also consider the various water filtration and purification systems which are also manufactured by concerns like Doctor Water. Such systems which use various processes like reverse osmosis,  exposure to ultraviolet light, carbon filtration and ceramic filtration, are quite safe and of a very high quality. However you should not jump to the conclusion that packaged drinking water is unsuitable for drinking. Bottled water packaged at a typical packaged drinking water plant in Kolkata is being used by a huge chunk of the population. The reason being the multiple uses of bottled water such as in offices, public places and during travelling. Things would surely improve if more stringent regulations for packaged drinking water are applied. That is an urgent necessity given the market share of bottled water.

Is the presence of fluoride compounds in your drinking water safe for you?

Recently there has been a lot of discussion and debate on the presence of Fluoride in drinking water. This controversy is here to stay as those people who are sceptic about the presence of fluoride compounds in drinking water seem to have a lot of information at their disposal and they also refer to research to back their contestations.

You must have heard that there are various benefits of fluoride compounds. Yes, it is true that small amounts of fluoride indeed prevents tooth decay and is thus good for your dental health. Going by this logic it must seem to you that presence of Fluoride in your drinking water is also beneficial for you. Indeed some municipalities across the world do add fluoride to drinking water. According to government standards, 1 ppm (parts per million) of fluoride is tolerable for our body. However these standards do not take into consideration the fact that we are exposed to fluoride through our mouthwash, toothpaste as well as various food items and beverages which we consume. In fact if you combine all of these you will find that at the end of the day we are easily consuming 2 to 3 ppm of this potentially harmful chemical.

Although calcium fluoride is not that harmful for us, there are other compounds of the chemical such as Silcofluoride and Sodium fluoride which can be quite harmful to us. Such harmful chemicals are removed from drinking water in fluoride removal plants with hand pumps. In Odisha there are many such fluoride removal plants with hand pumps which have been installed by Doctor Water which is a leading manufacturer and supplier of water treatment plants. Such fluoride removal plants with hand pumps in Odisha are doing a great service to the people of the state by providing safe drinking water.

What are the various processes which are used to treat water in a water softener plant?

The process applied to remove magnesium, calcium and other such metal cations from hard water is known as water softening. It is much easier to clean something with detergent or soap using soft water as there is no wastage of soap or detergent because of any bonding with calcium or magnesium ions. Use of soft water also increases the life of pipes and other fittings used in plumbing as there is much less scale build-up in those pipes or fittings through which soft water flows.

Generally lime or ion-exchange resins are used for water softening. However the use of reverse osmosis membranes or Nano filters for water softening is also increasing in water softener plants in Kolkata and other such places. The domestic appliances used in our homes rely on the ion-exchange resins for the removal of ions such as magnesium and calcium which are responsible for the hardness of water. In the ion exchange process calcium or magnesium ions are exchanged with sodium or potassium ions.

Doctor Water is one of the leading suppliers of water treatment plants in India. The company has installed various softener plants in Kolkata and various cities in Assam, Bihar and Odisha. Doctor Water’s softener plant in Kolkata uses the process of reverse osmosis for removal of ‘hardness ions’ from water. In this process, a pressure gradient across a semi permeable membrane is used to overcome osmotic pressure which removes water molecules with hardness ions from the treated solution.  The pores in the semi permeable membrane allow water molecules to pass through them but they trap the calcium and magnesium ions. However these membranes require regular maintenance or even replacement in some cases. In some water softening plants the method of distillation is also used.

Why demineralisation is considered important for water purification

DM refers to demineralisation. This process involves the removal of various types of salts and minerals which lay suspended in water. Sometimes, water in particular areas contain higher amount of minerals which can cause health hazards. The DM process happens through an ion exchange method.
A DM plant in Kolkata is capable of completely freeing various types of dissolved minerals in methodical ways such as the following:
· Deionization
· Distillation
· Reverse Osmosis
· Electrodyalisis
Deionized water and demineralised water are one and the same. With the help of deionization the mineral ions are effectively eliminated from water. Mineral ions like cations which are mainly found in water include:
· Calcium
· Sodium
· Iron
· Copper
Meanwhile further research has also shown that anions too can be found in water which has not undergone a DM process. These include:
· Chloride
· Sulphate
· Nitrate
What is deionization?
This process is otherwise referred to as a physical method where an ion exchange takes place through specially crafted ion-exchange-resins. The process paves way for an exchange site where replacement of mineral salts takes place in water during which a formation of H+ ions and OH- ions takes place.
Impurities which are majorly found in water supply across West Bengal, Bihar, Assam and Odisha, include different types of dissolved salts. With the help of deionisation it is possible to produce purer water which is distilled water. The process doesn’t take much time with no scale build-up. It is a time tested process which is trusted everywhere across the world.
How a DM plant in Kolkata works
A DM water plant is engineered to especially produce water which does not contain minerals. The principle process involved in demineralisation is ion-exchange. Other processes which are also included in the entire methodology are:
· Degasification
· Polishing
A DM plant has wide range of applications in areas such as:
· Steam
· Power
· Processing
· Cooling
During the process untreated water is passed through a couple of polystyrene bead beds. In this process the cations exchange with the hydrogen ions and the anions exchange with the hydroxyl ions.

Learn Why You Need Decontaminated Water for Running Water Chillers

An effective water treatment plant adds to the efficiency of a chiller. The performance of a chiller is highly dependent on water treatment technology because the latter helps get rid of various types of contaminants that affect the heat-transfer surface of a chiller. When the heat transferring ability of a chiller gets affected, the system gets damaged.

If you have water chiller in Kolkata make sure you are seeking effective measures to get rid of dirt and contaminants which mostly accumulate at its surface. Cleaning the surface is an important way to extend the longevity of a chiller. In most of the cases the tubes in a chiller get clogged because of the following reasons:
· Plugging due to sludge
· Plugging due to biological growth

It is very important for you to understand that the speed at which such plugging takes place depends upon the quality of water which is circulated through the system. Because of such fouling, the chiller’s capability to transmit heat gets affected significantly. You will be surprised to learn that chillers get affected even with the slightest layer of contamination. Its overall efficiency decreases to a great level.

Chillers circulate water which contains contaminants. However, upon seeking proper measures such contamination can be prevented. This will not only add to the life of a water chiller in Kolkata but will ensure that the system runs most efficiently in the forthcoming years. Some other places where these water chillers are available include Bihar, Odisha and Assam.

Water treatment through chemical processes is an effective way to remove contaminants, which accumulate on the heat-transfer surface of a water chiller. In case of open systems like condenser-water facilities the role of chemically treated water cannot be ignored. These systems comprise cooling towers which run on decontaminated water only. They require an ongoing supply of chemically treated water which is a reason why the condensers last long.

Indulge More Into Packaged Drinking Water To Stay Healthier And Happy

Water is one of the most valuable gifts of nature which helps mankind and the animal kingdom survive. This is a compound made of hydrogen as well as oxygen molecules. While water is available in abundance, people are advised to only drink mineralised and purified water which will not contain any germ or unwanted particles. Impurities in water are common. However in order to make this natural resource drinkable, water treatment plants have arrived.

If you had been drinking water pumped from boreholes and wells, here is a fact that may encourage you to discard such supply of water and instead opt for purified drinking water. The water which is pumped from deep underneath the soil is not always the safest option to settle for. A desired level of purification is needed to get rid of free particles and germs which may affect health.

Mineral water is referred to as water which is fortified with minerals, including:
· Barium
· Iron
· Manganese

These minerals are absorbed by our body and can benefit our health in several ways. It is true that there is scarcity of germ free and mineralised potable water, throughout India. This is when the role of a package drinking water plant in Kolkata comes into play. Most of the water which is freely available is contaminated with germs and pollution or harmful chemicals which can pose threat to mankind. Packaged drinking water is nowadays available everywhere across West Bengal. A lot of companies are investing in these water treatment plants supplying mineralised water which is further packaged for safety. However, there is huge disparity in supply and demand of mineralised packaged drinking water.

The benefits of packaged drinking water

· Packaged drinking water helps improve upon the bone structure
· It helps shed weight
· It influences muscle movements
· Packaged drinking water is a primary solution to address high blood pressure
· It detoxifies the skin
· It helps with digestion
· It lowers LDL cholesterol
· Packaged drinking water reduces chances of kidney stone formation
· It helps maintain electrolyte of human body
· Cleanses the body and helps drain wastes
· A natural pain relief

There are outstanding ways through which mineralised water helps the human body. Hence businessmen are investing more on package drinking water plant in Kolkata, encouraging people to drink safe. Usually the cost of raising a bottled drinking water plant across West Bengal is not too high. The amount of investment required depends upon a particular location and the size of plant.

Important Insights Into How Water Is Treated For Further Use

Water problems have become commonplace throughout the Indian subcontinent. As global warming is taking toll on mother earth, shortage and pollution of water are evident. Moreover, the staggering growth in population is causing scarcity in supply of this fundamental element which alone stands as a source of life. In order to maintain the demand and supply of water, it becomes necessary to address the primary problems at first. Shortage or scarcity of the element can cause famine, which can add to misery of the population in India. Hence, this calls for an instant awareness program to control and reverse shortage of water supply.

Why water treatment is important

Water which is regarded as a primary source of life needs to be treated well to ensure abundance in supply and zero infestation. Water is treated in systematic ways to ensure purity because contamination of this elementary matter is commonly found throughout India.

The role of a water filtration plant in Kolkata is significant as it helps treat polluted water and ensures curtailing on misuse of the same, which is widespread throughout West Bengal and neighboring states. The treatment involves various stages as mentioned below:

· Purification
· Sedimentation
· Disinfection
· Chlorination

The various techniques mentioned are implemented to ensure that water is treated perfectly to be used for drinking, industrial or commercial purposes. Being an elementary matter which is responsible for supporting life of all living-beings and organisms, it becomes a priority for mankind to take care of this naturally available resource.

There are some commonly used tools which help treat water in different ways. These include:

· Screening equipment
· Oil-water separators
· Water filters
· Grease treatment equipment
· Ozone generator

These tools and equipment help treat water such that the latter becomes fit for drinking and usage purposes under several circumstances.

Most of the times, the water that is used for commercial and industrial purposes becomes waste water. However, it is not a wise decision to dispose this water since there is always a shortage in supply of this fundamental matter. The waste water is further treated under physiological and chemical environments to get rid of impurities and germs. A lot of radioactive elements which are present in waste water need proper filtration else chances of water contamination turn higher. A water filtration plant in Kolkata is engineered to release such toxins and treat the available water so that it can be further used for drinking and commercial purposes.
